Anchor In and Out

Anchor in:
People with disabilities have a lot of joy and can teach us all important life lessons. Christopher went to Valley Middle School to see what makes them happy, along with lessons they say can help us in our everyday life.

Anchor out:

Thanks Christopher, the positive attitudes and the impact they have on lives can truly be seen by the people that have worked with them. We should all get to know someone with a disability so we can experience the happiness and learn lessons from them.

Story #2 Topic

Our topic is on special need (autistic people), and how they may be mentally different, but still have a lot of joy and bring joy to others.

Opening Activity: Video shots

What I knew:
- Rule of thirds is important, and that you should think of the shot as having a tick tack toe board. Use the upper quadrants for the eyes.
- Use tight shots rather than using the zoom because you will have a clearer picture and the color and proximity of the camera is more realistic.

What I learned:

1. Use leaning backward and forward to get shots. It gets a better perspective and allows you to see more of the object from a good angle.
2. Use dolly shots to help move with the action. This is important because you are able to see more of the action smoother.

Opening Activity: Shayna's Story

1. The role of the reporter's segue: The role of the reporter's segues was that she helped to connect different points and parts of the story together. Added more emotional perspective and information the person would not have known. An example is how far she fell (3 miles)

2. Why does she not include a stand- up? She does not include a stand- up because she has so many clips and video. She would take away from the story trying to be told.

3. What is the biggest surprise in the story? The biggest surprise surprise was that Shayna was pregnant during the fall.  (2 weeks pregnant)

4. How does the story end with hope?
The story ends with hope because it showed that miracles can happen and all you need to do is believe. The baby was ok with complications.

Opening Activity: Reaction on the death of Steve Jobs

It is very sad to hear that the co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs,  died yesterday. He brought many new ideas and creations to the technology business. His innovations sparked many new discoveries, not only in his company, but others too.  Jobs made many creations that simplified the American lifestyle. From the computer to the ipod, he has changed our lives. I know that my ipod is something I use everyday. I love listening to music, and the ipod, along with itunes and the istore made everything a lot more simple to access music. Steve Jobs will be remembered for his creative ideas that impacted lives around the world.
